Centennial Commemoration - Special Event

 

Children's Bureau staff, colleagues from across the Federal sector, and collaborative partners joined together to mark this important milestone. The event included remarks by:

George Sheldon, Acting Assistant Secretary, Administration for Children and Families (Read Remarks)
Joe Bock, Acting Associate Commissioner, Children’s Bureau

And featured speakers:

Dr. Olivia Golden, Former Assistant Secretary, Administration for Children and Families
Joan E. Ohl, Former Commissioner, Administration on Children, Youth and Families
Mary Williams, President, National Association of Public Child Welfare Administrators
Bryan Samuels, Commissioner, Administration on Children, Youth and Families

The Children's Bureau Centennial Award was presented to Carol Wilson Spigner, D.S.W., Associate Commissioner of the Children's Bureau from 1994 to 1999, in honor of her extraordinary vision and leadership in child welfare. Entertainment was provided by the Washington Youth Choir.
